Our Acid & Indigestion Relief Capsules, Super Berry Immune Support Capsules and Constipation Relief Capsules are vegetarian.
Can Maty’s syrups and capsules be used during pregnancy?
Talk to the doc. We always advise any woman who is pregnant or breastfeeding to consult with her health care provider before using any new products.
Why does it state on your package that the product was made in a “shared-use” facility?
Where we come from matters. A “shared-use” facility means there are other products being made there that share the same manufacturing assembly lines. Rest assured, our facilities are GMP compliant, which means it complies with “Good Manufacturing Practices” set by the FDA. They regulate the manufacturing, audit the facilities often, and have strict guidelines as to how everything in the facility is managed, processed, and cleaned.
Are Maty’s products tested on animals?
No doggone way. Maty’s is against animal testing of any kind and all of our products are cruelty-free. Our products are researched carefully, time-tested, and used by our kids before you get to use them for your kids!
Do your products contain alcohol?
Maty’s products may contain trace amounts of alcohol due to the natural fermentation of our Apple Cider Vinegar. No alcohol is ever ‘added’ to our products.
Why doesn’t Maty’s use petroleum?
It has to do with byproducts and baby’s skin. Petroleum jelly is a derivative of oil refining which means it may be contaminated with byproducts during the manufacturing process. Unless all the contaminants are removed, it can potentially be hazardous. Petroleum jelly is really only as good as its refining process and there’s no guarantee manufacturers can get all the impurities out. These byproducts are things we don’t want in our products, including known carcinogens like Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) and 1,4-Dioxane. At Maty’s, our philosophy is, “If you wouldn’t put it in your baby's mouth, then why would you put it on their skin?” After all, whatever you put on your baby’s skin quickly gets absorbed into their bloodstream. That’s why we use only pure natural oils in our baby products. No toxins. No worries.
Are there nuts or soy in any of your products?
We are nuts about giving you good allergy information. None of our products contain nuts, but the vitamin E we use in many of our topicals is derived from soy. In addition, our products are produced in a shared-use facility, so we cannot guarantee that there is no airborne contact with nuts. That being said, we manufacture our products in a GMP compliant facility which means there are strict FDA regulations for how everything is processed, cleaned, and managed.
What is zinc gluconate and is it natural?
It’s natural but needs a couple of steps to get to you. Zinc is an essential trace mineral that supports the immune system. It comes from the ground and must be refined and purified before it can be safe for human consumption.
Baby Care
If Maty’s Baby Chest Rub is menthol-free, what makes it effective?
Menthol may not be good for all ages. While research suggests menthol can benefit adults by helping the body produce more mucus, this increased mucus flow may cause respiratory distress in babies as their tiny nostrils may not be able to handle it. That’s why Maty’s Baby Chest Rub combines essential oils that are effective, gentle, soothing, and appropriate for any child over three months. Breathe a sigh of relief.
Is Maty's Baby Chest Rub okay to use after the expiration date?
Yes. Maty's Baby Chest Rub contains natural oils. Since oils do not have an indefinite lifespan, they can go rancid after a long time, and while it’s possible the ointment may smell “off”, it's still safe to use.
What happens if a child gets some of Maty's Baby Chest Rub or Vapor Rub in their mouth?
Although our Baby Chest Rub is intended to be used externally on the skin and not ingested, it should be okay. We always recommend monitoring your child closely and contacting your doctor right away if you have any concerns.
What is the difference between your Baby Chest Rub and your Vapor Rub?
Maty's Baby Chest Rub has essential oils like chamomile & lavender to relax & soothe babies 3 months & older. Our Vapor Rub contains menthol in the form of peppermint essential oil. Since menthol isn't safe for babies, it's not in our Baby Chest Rub.
Should this product look white or yellow?
Since we use clean ingredients there may be slight variations to the look and feel of each container of our Baby Chest Rub.
Why doesn’t Maty’s use petroleum?
Petroleum jelly may be a byproduct of petrolatum. Due to potential variations in the refining process, you never truly know how toxic your petroleum-based product may be. That’s why all of Maty’s products are petroleum-free.
I used to get this product in a jar. Is the formula different now that it's in a tube?
We have transitioned our Baby Eczema Relief from a jar to an easy-to-squeeze tube for your convenience. Our Eczema Relief tube contains Colloidal Oatmeal instead of Sulphur 7X HPUS.
Is Maty's Baby Eczema Relief okay to use after the expiration date?
Maty's Baby Eczema Relief contains natural oils. Since oils do not have an indefinite lifespan, they can go rancid after a long time and the ointment may smell “off”. While it's still safe to use, we suggest using a product that is not expired.

Maty's Baby Ointment can be used all over the body and on a frequent basis to create a moisture barrier and help nourish & protect the skin. Maty's Baby Diaper Rash Relief is excellent for flare-ups and helps treat existing diaper rash.
Why does the texture of the ointments vary?
If you experience a harder texture due to temperature changes, we recommend exchanging the product at the store of purchase. In the case of separated oils in the ointment, try massaging the tube to combine them. If the issue persists, it is advisable to return to the store and exchange for a new one.
Can I use Maty’s Baby Multipurpose Ointment on nipples when breastfeeding?
Our Multipurpose Baby Ointment is made with pure, healthy oils that resemble the natural oils of your skin so it’s great to put anywhere your body needs a little TLC. We do not recommend using the ointment prior to breastfeeding since it’s intended to be used externally on the skin and not ingested.
Is Maty’s Diaper Rash Relief compatible with cloth diapers?
We understand there may be concerns about using cloth diapers with ointments containing zinc. Due to our lower percentage of zinc oxide (at 1%), it should be fine to use our ointment with cloth diapers. You may also be interested in trying our Multipurpose Baby Ointment which is zinc-free and compatible with cloth diapers. It helps relieve dry skin and irritation and can be used as a moisture barrier to help prevent diaper rash.
Can I use Maty’s Diaper Rash Relief for other purposes besides relieving diaper rash?
This product is intended to help soothe and prevent diaper rash. If you're looking for a product to help with other things such as dry skin, cradle cap, chapped lips, cuts and scrapes, and more, we recommend Maty's Multipurpose Baby Ointment.
